A fresh coat. An open notebook.
The site has had a proper overhaul. Now there’s a place for the work between the milestones.
We changed everything about the site as it was. The mood, the feel, the content. Hopefully this is a next, positive step for the lab and its continued growth.
Each project now has room for what it is, how it started, and where it’s going. Getting those stories into shape meant spending some time with the work behind them.
There’s a fair distance between a working app and an idea you can’t leave alone. Both live here. We wanted the site to make that distance easier to see, while keeping the enthusiasm that got me and all of us into this in the first place.
A place for writing and thinking.
The Alembic is a home for scholarly advancements, napkin notes, and a navigational space for what’s going on and where to go to discuss it. A home for thought. Essays is fairly self explanatory, just a place to layout mine and everyone else’s brains, architecturally, on paper. Rounds is a place we’ll use for updates; check ins on Highball as a whole: what’s moved, what’s taking longer, and what we’ve changed our minds about. The first one starts with this round you’re reading this very moment.
Things are still rough around the edges, but it’s a heck of a foot forward and we’re proud of the work. Just know, if you are one of those who likes to keep tabs on things, updates go at the speed of life. Sometimes it’ll be fast updates, other times it’ll be slow moving. We still have day jobs, afterall.
